Simone de Beauvoir

Simone de Beauvoir (1908-1986) is a French philosopher, novelist, memoirist and essayist. At the age of 21, in 1929, already a graduate in literature, she was brilliantly received in the aggregation competition, arriving second behind Sartre. Then begins a fruitful “collaboration” which will last fifty years and will not be interrupted until the death of Sartre. Often considered a major theorist of feminism, Simone de Beauvoir participated in the women’s liberation movement in the 1970s.
