A Bag of Marbles is an autobiography by Joseph Joffo covering the years 1941-1945 of his life. It is his best-known work: it has sold several million copies and translated into 18 languages. The author recounts the adventures he experienced with his brother Maurice in order to escape the Nazis under the Vichy government until the end of the war. During this journey, happy and carefree periods alternate with more delicate moments of danger and imprisonment.
