A Frozen Woman
La femme gelée is Annie’s third novel, published in 1981. She describes her own life : she is married and wants to teach and then has a child, and all three parts of her life collide as they do in any woman’s life when such an attempt is made. No matter how good of a husband, father, etc., the major part of such a life falls to the woman to make sure it runs efficiently, and it is her life, not his, that is drastically and often dismally effected. Frozen Women is an interesting study of one woman’s protest at being urged into becoming a wife and mother, a role for which she has no desire.
