Forest of Anger

Forest of Anger (éducation européenne in French) (1945) is a novel by Romain Gary, most of whose action takes place in Vilnius and in the forest near this city in 1942-1943. It presents the story of the partisans (mostly Polish, but also Ukrainian and Lithuanian) and their fight against the Germans who invaded and occupied the territory during the middle of the Second World War. This fight is motivated by the hope of a new Europe with peace and harmony between its nations.
