L’Orange de Noël

At the end of the summer of 1913, Cécile Brunie, a very young teacher, arrived in Saint-Roch to take up her post. In this small village in lower Corrèze where the priest alone makes the law and where a congregational school thrives, she is welcomed like the devil himself.
No one doubts that, like his predecessors. she can only last a few months in the face of the formidable Abbot Brissaud who, every Sunday, thunders against the school without God and his henchmen.
But Cécile stands up, resists the insults, the provocations, the slander and, little by little, through competence, her patience and her courage, gains the trust of the village and sees her school populated to the detriment of the religious establishment.
