Cleaned Out

Cleaned out (Les armoires vides) is the story of a social rupture. A young girl finds herself stuck between two worlds, that of her parents: workers, poorly educated, and that of the bourgeois: educated, with access to culture. It is a short text, violent in its frankness and the exposure of the author. This text is an inventory. The world is like this. It’s infuriating, it’s unfair, and how do you find your place? This novel was published in 1974 by Annie Ernaux, 2022 Nobel Prize in Literature.
